Who We Are
You Plus One is a House and Techno record label and events company based in Vancouver, Canada, founded in 2011 by Siavash. We are one of the longest-running independent electronic music labels on Canada’s West Coast. YPO was built to unite, promote, and protect the city’s underground dance community.
What began as an effort to keep Vancouver’s House and Techno scene alive when venues were dieing, has grown into a label, a recurring event series, and a home for underground electronic music community in the North West.
What We Do
Music Label. You Plus One releases original house and techno from artists around the world, with music available on Beatport, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
Events. We are best known for HAUSPARTY, our flagship Vancouver event series, alongside long-running concepts like REWIRE, Heads Above, the annual YPO Sunset Cruise, and our New Year’s Eve and anniversary nights. Since 2011 we have hosted hundreds of international headliners in Vancouver.
oUR soUND
Underground Music. When we say underground electronic music we are refering to House and Techno dance music, not the genre of EDM. Although its becoming more and more mainstream around the world, we will always refer to this group of genres lovingly as Underground, especially since the communities that celebrate it are still forced to meet in secret to this day even in Canada as the culture is truely misunderstood by governments. House and Techno is a massive spectrum and our soft spot is in melodic, hypnotic, groovey, soulful, and dancefloor-driven tunes. You Plus One’s founder Siavash has been a DJ since the vinyl days of 1990s. He has been part of multiple music communities during his evolution leading to an eclectic sound and openness to multiple subgenres. Siavash selects our label releases and artists with care and the experience to know where trends are leading and what the dancefloor craves.
The Artists
Our label roster includes Siavash, Pig&Dan, Wally Lopez, Ron Flatter, Tom Zeta, and Rem Siman. Over the years our events have brought international artists to Vancouver including Radio Slave, Rodriguez Jr., Pig&Dan, Andhim, Monkey Safari, Victor Ruiz, Oliver Koletzki, Emanuel Satie, Frankey & Sandrino, Xinobi, and many many more. We often are the first to bring artists to our city and introduce them to a new and excited fanbase.
The Founder
You Plus One was founded by Siavash, a Vancouver-based DJ and producer with more than 30 years in the industry and a long-recognised role in shaping the Northwest underground electronic music scene. He has created multiple brands and been director of some of the cities to venues. He remains YPO’s creative lead.
