Who We Are

You Plus One Music Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Canadian underground electronic music label and events company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it.

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) where applicable.

Contact for Privacy Requests

We have designated a privacy contact who is accountable for our handling of personal information. To ask a question, request access to your data, request deletion, or make a complaint, contact us:

We will respond to access and deletion requests within the timeframes required under PIPEDA and BC PIPA.

Information We Collect and Why

We collect personal information only for the purposes described below, and we limit collection to what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.

  • Ticket purchases and events. When you buy tickets or register for an event, our ticketing provider (Ticket Tailor) collects your name, email address, and the payment details needed to process your order. Payment card processing is handled by the provider’s payment processors; we do not store full payment card numbers.
  • Age verification (19+). All of our events are restricted to guests aged 19 and over. We confirm age at the point of entry by checking government-issued identification. We check ID to confirm eligibility only; we do not retain or store copies or scans of your identification.
  • Email marketing. If you opt in, we collect your name and email address to send you newsletters, event announcements, and promotional messages through a third-party email service provider. We send commercial electronic messages only where we have your consent, and every message includes a working unsubscribe link, as required under CASL.
  • Website comments. When you leave a comment on our site, we collect the information shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user-agent string, to help with spam detection.
  • Accounts and profiles. If you register for an account, we store the information in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete this information at any time (you cannot change your username). Administrators can also see and edit profile information.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter them. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and display choices. Login cookies last two days and screen-option cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies. Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie (no personal data) indicating the post ID; it expires after one day.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors can download and extract location data from images on the site.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including if you are logged in to that website.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, and only as needed for the purposes above. These include our ticketing provider (Ticket Tailor), our email service provider, payment processors, and an automated spam-detection service for comments. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside of Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of the country in which it is held.

How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comments and their metadata are retained so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. You may request deletion of your comments and associated personal data at any time.
  • Ticketing and transaction records are retained as long as needed for the event and to meet our financial, tax, and legal obligations.
  • Marketing contact information is retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • Account profile information is retained for as long as your account is active.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or have purchased tickets, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can request that we erase that data. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes (for example, transaction records we must retain for tax purposes). To make a request, contact us using the details above.

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA, you also have the right to challenge our compliance with applicable privacy law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
